Benefits

Collectively, participating universities offer over 2,500 distance and online courses, and over 350 complete degrees, diplomas, and certificates. One quarter of CVU's programs and courses are offered in French.

CVU-UVC's universities accept each other's courses for transfer credit, thus providing students with greater course selection than is available at any single university. Students enrolled in a program at one member university can access the courses at all of the member universities.

As a demonstration of its commitment to transfer credit and flexibility, CVU-UVC's members waive Admission and Letter of Permission fees for students enrolled in members' distance programs, thus giving students greater course selection than can be found at any single universities.

Participating universities collaborate in joint marketing, develop new online and distance programs, share expertise in online instructional design and pedagogy, develop funding proposals, create new services for distance students, and explore other areas of common interest.

CVU-UVC welcomes Canadian universities to join the consortium. Incoming universities must be a member in good standing with Universities Canada; offer at least one program and its courses completely at a distance to any eligible student throughout Canada; will waive letter of permission fees and visiting student application fees for students accessing member courses; and participate in the governance of CVU-UVC. CVU-UVC member universities retain full institutional autonomy in terms of academic policies and regulations, including admissions, tuition and related fees, content and design of courses, assessment, transfer credit assignments, and appeals.
